The Rose by Amanda McBroom

The Story of The Rose by Amanda McBroom

All credit is given to Amanda McBroom who wrote the incredible song, The Rose - it's a renewed inspiration that lead to this post.

How did The Rose come to be? Amanda explains it was like someone had 'opened a window on the top of her head' and these 'words came pouring in...'

This song has always been important to me and many others, I'm sure! The words always made sense and resonated deep in my heart. Who would have realized in the 70's that she was writing a song which would be so perfectly inspiring and useful for this time period now.
Here is a link to her page: How The Rose came to be...

And here are the famous lyrics to be read with spiritual understandings for all those who are just starting to wake up from their slumber.

*Remember these words came 'pouring in the top of' her head...

The Rose

Some say love, it is a river
That drowns the tender reed
Some say love, it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed
Some say love, it is a hunger
An endless aching need
I say love, it is a flower
And you, it's only seed

It's the heart that fears breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream, afraid of waking
That never takes the chance
It's the one who won't be taken
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul, afraid of dying
That never learns to live

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long
And you think that love is only for the lucky and the strong
Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed
That with the sun's love, in the spring
Becomes the rose
